One such ceremony is the heralded Evening Parade. Performed with an elaborate lighting and spotlight system, this parade first occurred on July 5th, 1957. Following the participation of a Marine Detachment in the celebrated Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland in 1958, the event became a fixed Marine Corps tradition.
