GOOD QUALITY
by .. T. A. Hansen (eagan, mn USA)
The quality of all four movies is good. I wasn't expecting much when I purchased this(primarliy for "Horror Hotel"), but was really suprised. The images are mostly crisp. There's not much hiss. You could probably spend more and get better transfers, but you can't beat the price/quality ratio for this Platinum Disc Corp DVD.
Horror 4-fer #4
by .. Annie Van Auken (Planet Earth)
Transfer quality of ECHO BRIDGE 4 movie packs is quite good, although film stock is not always in the best of condition. A bargain price also makes these small collections attractive. All titles are contained on a single disc.
Most historically significant in this fifth edition is Roger Corman's first attempt at combining the horror and comedy genres-- "A Bucket of Blood."
SYNOPSES for "Horror Classics V.1"--
A BUCKET OF BLOOD-- Ever-popular Roger Corman quickie about a beatnik cafe busboy who longs for the adulation given the several artists that frequent his workplace. When Walter accidentally kills the landlady's cat, he hides his mistake by covering the body with clay. This "work" is put on display at the cafe, where it meets with great acclaim. Events dictate that the cat will not be Walter's only sculpture. A cast iron skillet figures prominently in what happens next in this creepy comedy.
THE DEVIL'S HAND-- Window shopping man ends up the prisoner of a satanic cult's high priestess. In the cast is Corman regular Bruno VeSota. Neil Hamilton (Commissioner Gordon on TV's "Batman") plays the villainous doll shop owner who lures Robert Alda (Alan's dad) with a voodoo doll-likeness of his soon-to-be enslaver.
HORROR HOTEL-- British-made film about a college student doing research on witchcraft in a fog-enshrouded New England village. Nan discovers that the owner of a local inn is a nearly 300 year-old witch, and that the whole town belongs to the woman's coven.
I BURY THE LIVING-- The office of a very large cemetery has a wall map with black pins marking occupied plots. The graveyard's new chairman discovers that if he places a black pin on an unused gravesite, the plot's owner dies.
HORROR CLASSICS V.5 offers four movies in color, including 1947's "Scared to Death," with Bela Lugosi.
Parenthetical numbers preceding titles are 1 to 10 viewer poll ratings found at a film resource website.

All in all; decent picture, decent sound. Nothing special, but menus all seem to work and thats rare for cheap compilation DVD's.
