Product Description

History's explosive competition series targets another hit season. Sixteen fearless marksmen take aim for the $100,000 prize and the title of Top Shot. The all-new cast of 14 men and 2 women face more intense challenges and surprising twists inspired by history. Trials include shooting from the back of a moving vehicle, shooting while hanging from a 125-foot crane or while being turned upside down. You'll see the iconic ""Tommy Gun"" and .44 Magnum -- but not just firearms, the marksmen's skills will also be tested with tomahawks, compound bows, and blow guns. High-speed HD cameras capture the skillful execution of each test in extreme slow motion. Survivor contestant Colby Donaldson returns as host of HISTORY's first elimination series where every contender must possess speed, precision and skill. In the end, only one can be the Top Shot. Includes all 13 episodes on 4 discs, plus over 85 minutes of exclusive bonus.

You don't have to be a gun person to enjoy Top Shot: Reloaded, the History Channel's reality show in which crack marksmen literally shoot it out. The cunningly structured competition brings in a good dose of psychology: these guys (and a couple of gals) pride themselves on remaining cool and collected, but under pressure cracks start to show. Furthermore, the mixture of team and individual competition brings out intriguing frictions, from military vs. civilian to old vs. young to humble vs. cocky--frictions really come into play when it's time to eliminate players. This, of course, is on top of the simpler pleasures of watching people shoot at everything from exploding targets to jars of pickles. When you start watching, you may ask yourself, how does host Colby Donaldson--a former contestant on Survivor--talk and clench his teeth at the same time? But before long, you'll be sucked into wondering, how does someone who's a champion pistol shot apply those skills to a tomahawk or a compound bow? How does a military sniper handle a gangster-style Tommy gun? How does target marksmanship get turned into a paintball melee? Top Shot keeps changing both the weapons used and the style of competition, keeping the contestants on their toes. The show doesn't spend a lot of time on the players' back stories, but as bits of their lives come up in conversation and interviews, they become distinct and intriguing studies in bonding and competitiveness. Though Colby's narration can sometimes be overdone or redundant, for the most part Top Shot focuses on the marksmen, which is as it should be. Extras include a more detailed feature on the show's variety of weapons. --Bret Fetzer
